India (Commonwealth Union)_ Apollo Hospitals has launched a new automated, real time rapid-response patient monitoring system that was created in-house. The technology is designed to monitor patient health and will instantly alarm a team of specialists if it detects an unexpected downturn. This will significantly improve prompt intervention with the appropriate specialists, resulting in a considerable improvement in the treatment, as well as the patient’s health outcome.

According to Sangita Reddy, co-managing director at Apollo Hospitals, “Apollo has always been the leader in bringing the best and most relevant technologies to provide our patients with the best care in the world. This indigenously designed automated, rapid-response system is another step in this direction. Only Apollo, with its vast experience in remote health care and best-in-class clinical talent, can design and build such a system for India. I am really delighted to bring this innovation to our customers and help them get healthy quicker and live higher quality lives.”

HealthNet Global, Apollo’s technology enabler, has created this innovative, AI-based custom-designed advanced remote and continuous monitoring system that is integrated with modern medical devices and wearables, stores and sends patient health data, and provides easy access to 3 levels of care providers to confirm that no critical event is missed and that patient safety is maintained. The platform access allows nurses, the PreMET team, and physicians to observe patient health from nurse stations, their mobile devices, and the regional command center.

The system’s AI-enabled early warning score and alert technique enables doctors to intervene promptly, thereby enhancing patient care. The monitoring system platform has been tested on Apollo’s extensive remote-health program and has undergone field trials in Hyderabad and Chennai. Following two months of trial, both centers observed an improvement in nursing care efficiency as well as a decline in unexpected health issues.

The advanced patient-monitoring system is a combination of hardware, powerful software directly connected into the patient’s monitoring systems, and highly skilled healthcare professionals working in tandem to give the most advanced monitoring system in the country, supported by quick clinical reaction. Over the next three years, Apollo will invest more than $12 million to implement this technology across its network of hospitals.
