India (Commonwealth Union)_ The Education Ministry is giving applications for the 2024 Commonwealth Master’s scholarship tenable in the United Kingdom. At UK universities, these scholarships are available for full-time master’s degree courses, which is supposed to start in September or October 2024. These Scholarships are offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) UK. According to the official release from the ministry, the deadline for submitting online applications is October 17, 2023.
Students who are interested in this scholarship should submit their applications through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s online application system (OAS) as well as on the Education Ministry’s Sakshat portal.
Six developmental themes are covered under this scholarship: Science and technology for development; promoting global prosperity; strengthening health systems and capacity; access, inclusion and opportunity; strengthening resilience and response to crises; and strengthening global peace, security and governance.
To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a citizen and a permanent resident of India, and also by September 2023, applicants should have a first-class degree with at least 60% marks in graduation, or a second-class degree with 50-59% marks in graduation, along with a relevant Master’s degree.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission normally would not find a second UK master’s degree. If you are hoping to apply for a second UK master’s degree, then you need to explain why you wish to undertake this study. This was mentioned in an official statement from the ministry. It further states that it does not cover the MBA program under this scholarship.
Candidates who went overseas for training, studies or specialization, whether on scholarships or on their own, for a period over six months can apply if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years as of November 25, 2023, following their return from abroad, the release says. To be selected for this scholarship, applicants must hold an admission offer from a UK university which is affiliated with the CSC for the September/ October 2024 intake. According to the education ministry, 39 nominations will be made to CSC for the scholarship. Nomination does not mean selection for the scholarship. To select students for this scholarship, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission will make a decision and the deadline for submitting nominations is December 12, 2023.
