Bangladeshi investors seeking investment opportunities in India: Tipu

Dhaka, Bangladesh (CU)_ According to Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Bangladeshi businessmen are interested in investing in India, particularly in West Bengal, after the government’s recent simplification of the overseas investment procedures. He announced, “As a result, Bangladeshi investors are being able to invest in Africa, Europe, America and in Asia. The Bangladeshi businessmen are also interested to invest in West Bengal”.

The Commerce Minister made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata. The Summit also promoted Bangladesh’s trade and investment opportunities in India, particularly in West Bengal. According to a news release, the event was attended by West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, among others.

The Commerce Minister stated that Bangladesh has made significant progress in trade and commerce under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s energetic leadership, and the country is also considered as a role model for growth. According to him, the trade and commerce between Bangladesh and India is increasing daily. Tipu further highlighted that West Bengal has achieved remarkable progress under Chief Minister Mamamta Banerjee’s governance, with the state achieving 7.1 percent GDP growth despite the pandemic.

Around 40 nations’ government and corporate delegations attended this global business conference. The Commerce Minister of Bangladesh spearheaded a government delegation of ten members and a corporate group of twenty members. Bangladesh is the partner country of this Global Business Conference organized in West Bengal for two days. The summit was attended by all of India’s leading firms, including TATA, Adani, Wipro, and Hindustan Unilever.
