BRUSSELS (CU)_EU lawmakers on Tuesday (27 April) held a last debate on the post-Brexit trade agreement, ahead of a vote which was expected to give the agreement an overwhelming approval. The vote was the final step in ratifying the historical trade agreement between the European Union and Britain struck in on Christmas Eve, nine months after acrimonious negotiations.
“Today the European Parliament voted on the most far reaching agreement the EU has ever reached with a third country,” David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, said. “This can form the foundation on which we build a new forward-looking EU-UK relationship.”
