-

President Biden made a decision on the 4th of February to stop giving American support to all offensive operations happening in Yemen including the sale of arms, following this decision his administration has now begun talk with the Saudis and called upon the Houthi rebels to halt attacks. The Human Rights Watch has claimed that with 24 million people needing assistance, 10 million experiencing famine and over 100,000 people killed the Yemen war has been the cause for the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

This civil war in Yemen has been ongoing for 6 years the Saudis have a coalition with the Houthi rebels who are backed by Iran. There was supposed to be a precision guided missile sale to Saudi Arabia to the worth of 760 million and it was President Biden’s administration that halted that sale. Ex-President Donald Trump was for the Saudi missile sale but President Biden made sure this never went through and earned a lot of respect from Republican senators such as Mike Lee who then tweeted “I commend the president’s announcement ending unconstitutional U.S. support for the war in Yemen. “President Biden did not stop there he also made promises to reassess the relations the US had with Saudi.

President Biden also has aim to stop the violence that is coming from the Yemeni rebels Also known as the Houthi Rebels. Ned Price representative from the state department issued a statement that said, “We call on the Houthis to immediately cease attacks impacting civilian areas inside Saudi Arabia and to halt any new military offensives inside Yemen, which only bring more suffering to the Yemeni people.”
