Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Blink Parametric has enhanced its long-standing cooperation with Blue Cross with the debut of Alberta Blue Cross’s flight delay service, which is powered by Blink. Alberta Blue Cross handles nearly 1.8 million Albertans through group, government, and individual policies, offering travel insurance and benefit programs.

With the real-time delay tracking technology of Blink, Alberta Blue Cross clients can now get flight delay coverage up to one hour before their scheduled departure time in order to get access to an airport lounge for a delay of three or more hours, and a hotel room for a delay of six or more hours. Blue Cross was an early user of Blink’s real-time parametric flight disruption solution in 2018, making the partnership with Blue Cross’ Alberta division particularly significant for Blink.

Sid Mouncey, CEO of Blink Parametric, expressed delight over the partnership. He said, “This is an exciting move with Alberta Blue Cross and we are delighted to further strengthen our partnership with Blue Cross across Canada. The travel landscape has certainly changed, since our first Blue Cross outing in Ontario and Québec in 2018, as real-time travel solutions have since evolved to become mainstream and must-have”.

He added, “All facets of air travel are certainly stretched right now and proactive insurers like Alberta Blue Cross deploying customer-centric initiatives such as our flight disruption service are making strong headway in restoring the confidence of the traveling public.” According to Mouncey, “Blink is designed to provide real-time solutions to customers, which can help [turn] negative experiences into positive ones, whilst delivering operational efficiency on processing high frequency, low severity claims.”
