Being a vast major industry that employs workers ranging from actors, directors, producers to lightmen, crane operators, make-up artists, dancers, theatres and other shooting crew members, the industry is currently struggling to sustain in the Covid-hit era. Numerous movies have been released in the OTT platforms and others have been postponed due to a surge in Covid cases. From Satyameva Jayate 2 to Chehre, Bollywood big-budget films have been pushed back indefinitely due to the second wave of Coronavirus.
Satyameva Jayate 2
Milap Zaveri directed Satyameva Jayate 2, a Bollywood Drama film. In Satyameva Jayate 2, John Abraham plays a dual role, and Divya Khosla Kumar, Rajeev Pillai, and Anup Soni play pivotal roles. It is an official spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Satyameva Jayate, and it is based on the fight against injustice and abuse of power. The film’s release date has been postponed since April due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Thalaivi
Thalaivi is a Bollywood biopic based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, a politician and film actress who served six times as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The movie was directed by A L Vijay, and Vijayendra Prasad wrote the script. In Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut plays the titular character. The film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu languages. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and lockdown, the film’s release date has been postponed indefinitely as of April 2021.
Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi is a Bollywood action thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles. Sooryavanshi features Akshay in the character of an ATS officer. Sooryavanshi was directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez, Reliance Entertainment, Dharma Productions, and Cape Of Good Films. The story follows Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad’s chief, DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, and his team joining forces with Inspector Sangram Bhalerao and DCP Bajirao Singham to foil a terrorist gang preparing an attack on Mumbai. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the film’s release date has been postponed indefinitely since April 2021.
Haathi Mere Saathi
Haathi Mere Saathi – Elephants are my friends – is a 2021 Indian drama film which is a remake of Rajesh Khanna’s iconic film of the same name released in 1971. The movie was directed by Prabhu Solomon and produced by Eros International and was made in three languages: Kaadan in Tamil, Aranya in Telugu, and Haathi Mere Saathi in Hindi. The movie features Rana Daggubati, Vishnu Vishal, Pulkit Samrat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Zoya Hussain. It was shot simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, with somewhat different cast members in each language. The release date of Haathi Mere Saathi has been postponed due to Covid second wave since March 2021.
Bunty Aur Babli 2
Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a continuation of the 2005 hit movie Bunty Aur Babli that starred Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukharji in lead roles. Varun V Sharma directed the film Bunty Aur Babli 2.0., which is his directorial debut. It is a Hindi-language crime comedy film produced by Aditya Chopra. Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari Wagh feature in the film. Due to the second wave of the Coronavirus, the film was postponed.
Chehre
Directed by Rumi Jaffrey, Chehre is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language Bollywood mystery thriller. The lead characters of the movie are Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Kriti Kharbanda, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Dritman Chakroborty, and Raahgir Yadav. Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited produced Chehre. The plot revolves around an 80-year-old man who enjoys playing a real-life game with his buddies. Hashmi plays a business tycoon role, while Bachchan plays a role of a lawyer.
