Europe, UK (Commonwealth Union) – As the conservatives have been plagued with a series of bad news over key issues such as poor polling and the divisions within the conservative party, they received some welcome news with the endorsement of Boris Johnson and the UK’s rate of inflation reaching the Bank of England target last month.

British inflation in May met the central bank’s target of two percent, according to official data released on Wednesday. The Consumer Prices Index decreased as anticipated from 2.3 percent in April, the Office for National Statistics reported in a statement, attributing this to a decline in the growth of food prices.

Speaking to LBC Radio the Prime Minister indicated that the recent developments have been quite favorable. The past few years have undeniably been challenging for everyone. However, we have remained steadfast in our approach and executed the necessary actions, even when it was difficult. We have ultimately achieved our goal, and inflation has now returned to its target level.

The endorsement from Boris Johnson was also seen as a welcome boost for the Tories who have been down in the polls. The former Prime Minister had been active in producing campaign videos for numerous Conservative MP Supporters showing signs of Conservative unity.

Mr Johnson wrote in the Daily Mail “In most other countries, people are going for the centre-Right, not the Left. So why on earth are we about to lurch Left?

“People need to snap out of it, now. Wake up. Look at Starmer – and never mind your exasperation with recent politics – save this country from socialism on July 4.

“Socialism of the Starmer kind has never worked in this country, and it is frankly the last thing we need now.”

He further warned in the Daily Mail that Labor will come for individuals’ pensions, and inheritances, and, they will also come for our incomes as their stated plans permit no alternative.

It is yet to be seen as to how far these two positive developments will impact the conservative campaign. Labor who has had a strong lead in the polls however it is also likely to be impacted with many candidates who are further to the left breaking away from the party which could translate into votes but not likely heavily impact the labor campaign.

With the economy being the most significant factor in most elections and with inflation brought down and stabilized the Tories will likely have a strong case with voters. The other key concern for most voters is the NHS waiting lists which the Tories will need to get the message across in ways to resolve the issue.
