Africa (Commonwealth Union) _PayFast is a South African online payment processing service that allows businesses to accept payments online. IMr. Brendon Williamson is the CEO of PayFast. here is his backstory,

One top tip for doing a deal: “Build strong relationships.” In the world of business, connections and trust play a pivotal role in successful negotiations. Don’t hesitate to ask for what you want.

First job: My older brothers manufactured candles, and I joined their sales team. I negotiated a sales incentive program, then sold candles door-to-door. My first full-time job was as a sales consultant for a building supply store.

First pay cheque and how I spent it: Around R3,000 a month. Most went towards board as I still lived at home and paying off my Ford Escort.

Fixing one thing in South Africa: The priority should be ensuring a constant electricity supply. Its impact on the economy is widespread.

Most interesting thing about me that people don’t know: I used to host a local radio show, “B in the Afternoon,” on a Saturday afternoon time slot.

One investment I wish I had made earlier: I wish I had taken more time to experience life in the moment, rather than being overly ambitious.

Hardest life lesson: Embracing failure as a valuable teacher. It has shaped my perspective, instilled resilience, and enabled me to approach challenges with a growth mindset.

Best recent book I’ve read and why: “Live Life in Crescendo” by Stephen R Covey. It guides on living your best life for the present and using your past as a springboard for the future.

Message to my younger self: You will own more than one pair of shoes, become more resilient and capable than you imagine. You will slay dragons—something you never thought possible.

Annoying jargon: “This is the new normal.” It’s used as a term of submission, avoiding questions and simplifying situations. What is normal, after all?

If I were President Cyril Ramaphosa: Tackle corruption to release funds for essential services. Strengthen ethical practices to better serve all South Africans.
