The tourism sector in each country has a taken a hit they did not expect to take when Covid came about. Most Asian countries and some islands depend on the tourism sector to keep their economy alive.
There are airlines owned by many developed countries and they were making good money until this virus put a stop to everything. While laying of people was acceptable it was not humane to lay of entire industries. The air travel industry accounted for a lot of people and the numbers were massive.
It took about a year to develop a vaccine for the corona and the vaccines were to be taken in 2 parts. Once both doses were taken then your vaccine process was complete and you were now a part of the vaccinated population in the world.
When the vaccination drives were happening all over the world countries who had reached heard immunity i.e vaccinated more than 60% of its population started relaxing the rules about opening up its borders.
If one were to look at Singapore as a country they now allow you to travel to Singapore if you are fully vaccinated and visa is stamped once they see your completed vaccination card.
Coming to British Airways, they took a huge hit when last year borders closed and all they were doing was pulling cargo flights. Britain also had a viral strain of corona which stopped Britain for a good few weeks before they could raise their heads again. British airways came to the point of closing its doors because they could not sustain the company and its payments.
But the silver lining came with the vaccine. British airways has started a trial where they will use the vaccine form as a travel pass and people can fly out to Geneva and Zurich. Now a passenger wouldn’t even have to go out in public to do it. British Airways is trying to come up with an app so that all of this could be done digitally.
How it would work is that the app could be downloaded from the app store and the customer can save it directly on their mobile phone. Once this is done the customer then creates a secure account and ads in the needed details. When this is confirmed the customer can now book the holiday they desire as they have their digital travel pass.
