Calls to import coal through aggregating agency

KOLKATA (CU)_Over the recent months, there has been an increase power generated through coal in India, both domestic and imported. As of Friday, power stations in the South Asian nation had 20.446 million tons of coal, which is only sufficient for seven days under the current rate of consumption. Against this backdrop, state governments and power project developers have requested the union government to consider importing coal through an aggregating agency, possibly Coal India.
