Can they overcome this darkness?

SOUTH AFRICA (COMMONWEALTH UNION) – it looks like when it rain it pours when it comes to South Africa. It is only acceptable that the whole world is going through some kind of crisis and some countries have gone and declared “state of Emergency” so that the citizens are aware of how bad things are and how things could get worse.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has dealt with a fair share of hardship in his presidency. But now it has come to a point where South Africa where things are only going from worse to absolute disaster.

The President made the call a few hours ago to declare “state of disaster” this was because there is  electricity crisis that South Africa is going through. He made the announcement during the annual Nation address to the country in Cape Town.

What is really heartbreaking is that this announcement comes only about 10 months after South Africa lifted the covid induced State of Disaster. The country has not had time to make a recovery from one problem when the next one comes knocking on its doors.

The President made the claim that there will be an electricity minister appointed so that this problem could be dealt with as soon as possible and also as effectively possible. The country cannot be in darkness for an unknown amount of time.

The new minister once appointed will also assume all and full responsibility of making sure that the country never has to go through an electricity crisis like south Africa is going through tight now. He would also have to work with the National Energy Crisis Board to make sure operations are runs smoothly and with no complications.

The President then went on to address the people claiming that this kind of thing will not happen in the future. Of course, this power outage and crisis left the state-owned Eskom completely crippled. This happening really was icing on the cake as there was rampant looting and corruption going in Eskom for well over a decade already.
