(Commonwealth Union)_Every couple would have their pet follow them up the aisle in an adorable little formal attire in an ideal world since, after all, pets are family. Sadly, though, this isn’t always feasible. Pets at weddings provide a ton of difficulties, so couples are frequently obliged to be inventive in their inclusion of them. If you’re getting ready at home, you may easily have your beloved pet appear in a few shots (be sure to include this on the wedding photo checklist you give the photographer!), but if not, a cute photo display or cake topper can do the thing!
Several factors, including the location of your wedding, the wedding venue, and, of course, your pet, will greatly influence whether or not your pet can attend your wedding. Although dogs are typically the most manageable pets at weddings, we’ve also seen couples bring their horses, goats, even rabbits!
If you’re thinking of bringing your pet to your wedding, there are a few things you should consider first:
Is the location of your wedding venue a short drive from your home?
Can your pet be accommodated in the ceremony area?
Can your pet be accommodated at the wedding location?
Does your place of business allow pets?
Does your pet act appropriately in unfamiliar settings?
Does your pet act appropriately around a lot of people?
Does your place have any other creatures that your pet would like chasing or eating?
Will one of your visitors look after your pet during the day?
Can you find confetti that is safe for pets to consume since, let’s face it, they will try to eat it?
Can you hang your decorations high enough that your pet can’t reach them?
May you mention your pet’s attendance on the invitations so that anyone attending with allergies can make necessary preparations?
It won’t be realistic to have your pet attend your wedding if you responded “no” to a few of the questions. There are a ton of other ways to incorporate them into your day, so don’t worry!
Employ a pet sitter Bring your animal companion to the wedding for a quick visit.
For couples who simply can’t fathom their big day without their little (or giant) furball by their side, this is a terrific alternative if you can locate a dependable pet sitter in the region or you know one who is ready to travel with you! Your pet will be taken care of at all times and be able to participate in the day and appear in a few pictures without causing you any logistical hassles, but you will still need to confirm that your pet is permitted at your ceremony and/or reception venue.
Include them in the celebration.
One of the simplest ways to honour your pet is to mention them throughout the ceremony, either in your own vows or by dedicating a specific poetry with an animal theme, such as this one by Taylor Mali, to them. Additionally, you may put a framed picture on the seat reservation so they can attend in spirit.
