answered by the Queen’s most senior representative in London, Sir Kenneth Olisa, last week. During an interview with England’s Channel 4 News, Sir Kenneth was asked if Buckingham palace supported Black Lives Matter, to which he responded: “The answer is easily yes.”
“I have discussed with the Royal household this whole issue of race, particularly in the last 12 months since the George Floyd incident,” the Queen’s first black Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London noted. “It’s a hot conversation topic. The question is what more can we do to bind society to remove these barriers. [The royal family] cares passionately about making this one nation bound by the same values,” he added.
Previously, following the racism allegations made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Buckingham Palace issued a statement on behalf of Her Majesty noting that the claims are taken “very seriously” and will be addressed privately. Nevertheless, American talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who hosted the Sussexes’ tell-all TV interview, has already revealed that the unnamed member of the Royal Family was neither the Queen nor Prince Phillip.
