Samir Bhattacharya, Emeritus Professor, School of Life Sciences, Zoology Department, at Visva-Bharati, Shanti Niketan, shared the benefits of hibiscus plant. He said, “We found that ferulic acid (FRL), belonging to the polyphenols extracted from leaves of the plant, has the potential to be a better therapeutic agent for diabetes”. Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications published the results. Additionally, hibiscus tea is also popular for its beneficial effects on the skin, digestion, and more.

To brew the healthy hibiscus tea, bring two cups of water to a boil. Turn off the heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of dried hibiscus flowers. Cover with a lid and set aside for 4-5 minutes to marinate. Filter it and serve with lemon juice and honey and drink it. You can have it both hot and cold. Within a short time, you can prepare a refreshing and healthy hibiscus tea.
