India (Commonwealth Union)_ Errol Musk, father of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, is drawing significant attention during his ongoing visit to India, not just for his business interests, but for his heartfelt admiration of India’s spiritual heritage and geopolitical ascent. The 79-year-old South African engineer and entrepreneur is on a five-day trip to the country, during which he visited the sacred Ram Temple in Ayodhya and spoke candidly about his fascination with Hinduism, particularly Lord Shiva. Musk hailed India as “already a world power” and described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “one of the finest leaders in the world today.” He praised Modi’s confidence and clarity, attributing India’s global strides in diplomacy and economics to the Prime Minister’s leadership. “It’s always a pleasure to watch him speak. He carries himself with clarity and purpose,” Musk said.

Errol Musk is in India in his role as Global Advisor to Servotech Power Systems, and he expressed strong support for the country’s newly introduced electric vehicle (EV) import policy. The policy allows global automakers to import up to 8,000 electric vehicles annually at a significantly reduced duty of 15%, a sharp drop from the current 70–100%, in exchange for a minimum investment of ₹4,150 crore in local manufacturing facilities. Beyond his business engagements, Musk’s spiritual reflections have resonated deeply. After visiting the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he spoke of India’s profound civilizational continuity. “The history of India is not just India’s history, it’s the history of humanity,” he remarked. Musk expressed particular admiration for Hinduism and the figure of Lord Shiva. “I think if the entire world followed Shiva, it would be just fine. Hinduism is so ancient, it boggles the mind,” he said, calling it a spiritual tradition with immense relevance for the modern world.

Musk’s comments align with India’s broader efforts to harness its cultural and spiritual heritage as a form of soft power. His endorsement of concepts like Sanatan Dharma and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) echoes Prime Minister Modi’s message of inclusiveness, harmony, and civilizational pride. Musk remarked, “India is wonderful, and many should come here. The people are kind and loving. With a significant Indian community back home, I’ve come to appreciate the depth of this culture.” On the geopolitical front, Musk voiced his support for India’s firm stance against terrorism, especially in relation to ongoing challenges in Kashmir. His remarks follow India’s Operation Sindoor and recent diplomatic outreach to international forums addressing cross-border terrorism.

His comments add to the growing global interest in Hinduism and reflect how India’s civilizational ethos is increasingly being recognized as a form of cultural diplomacy. Furthermore, Errol Musk’s visit to India has blended business with a genuine appreciation for its spiritual and cultural heritage. From lauding India’s EV policy to endorsing its ancient wisdom, his words have added a unique personal voice to the global narrative surrounding India’s rise as a modern nation deeply rooted in timeless traditions.
