Police reported that, four individuals in Canada, including two children, have been missing in flooding caused by torrential rains in Nova scotia.

Officers say the heaviest rains to hit the Atlantic region in 50 years have caused floods that have left thousands of homes without electricity.

In some areas, three months of rain fell in just 24 hours. Residents have been advised not to join in search for the missing, due to the unsafe conditions.

Police reported that, the two missing children were in a car that was submerged by flood water, the three other individuals in the car managed to escape.

The two individuals were missing after the vehicle they were in went underwater. While the remaining two were rescued from the vehicle.

In some areas state of emergency has been announced, while in Nova scotia, bridges have been weakened and roads have been destroyed.

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says, that the property damage to homes were unbelievable, at one point more than 80,000 people were left without power and minimum of seven bridges would have to be replaced or rebuild.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, he was very worried about the floods and assured that the government “will be there” for the province.

Halifax Mayor, Mike Savage in a press conference that informed that people should not think everything is over. This is a very dynamic situationadding that the city has been hit by biblical proportions of rain.

The flooding is the latest dangerous weather event to hit Northeast Canada- recent wildfires have burnt a record area, sending clouds of smoke south into the US.

Extreme rainfall is a result of climate change is not assured by scientist; however, the floods are consistent with the expected changes in a warming world.

The reason for this is the warmer the earth becomes the more moisture the atmosphere can hold. This results in heavier rainfall with more droplets over a smaller area in a shorter time span.
