FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, has rolled out its FedEx Reusable Pak to offer a more sustainable choice for e-commerce shipments in Europe.
Suitable for shipments up to 2.5kg, the FedEx Reusable Pak is resealable to facilitate returns without added waste. Performance testing was carried out for the new product to ensure that it is possible to reuse the product without additional packaging tape. The new portfolio of reusable packaging comes in sizes small, large and extra-large, and a bubble-technology padded option is also available.
This initiative is part of the company’s plans to achieve global carbon neutral operations by 2040 and in response to the Cross-Border E-Commerce Shopper Survey published in 2018 by International Post Corporation. This survey found that as many as 60% of shoppers ‘agree’ or ‘strongly agree’ that they would like their e-commerce packaging to be sustainable.
The new packaging product was designed to help meet the needs of a growing e-commerce market by promoting sustainable end-user consumer behaviours. The new products are to be offered as complimentary packaging to new and existing customers, alongside a portfolio of right-size packaging solutions.
