BARBADOS – In another incident of gunplay, residents scampered after shots were fired in 2nd Avenue, Thomas Gap, President Kennedy Drive, St Michael, and two men injured earlier in the day yesterday. There has been reports of these shootings for a little while now and the residents are getting more and more nervous to move about even during sunlight.

They also joined the chorus of Barbadians pleading with authorities for stricter enforcing of measures against the background of the recent surge in gun violence. The Barbadian authorities have been somewhat lax about the laws concerning guns. Is it possible that al of this had to happen for state officials to finally open their eyes and see what was happening in the country?

When media outlets from all over the country sent their teams to visit the area, officers had cordoned off the area by a shop in the area sometimes referred to as “Vietnam” and were placing markers in the road.

The lawmen placed a number of indicators at the points where bullets had penetrated a shop in the area.

Police said they responded to a shooting which occurred at about 1:10 p.m. yesterday afternoon where one man left the scene by car to seek medical attention at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, while another was reportedly injured.
