heart attack in the UK on Saturday. There were multiple state new sources that confirmed the fact that Campbell, 50, remained unresponsive in intensive care.

Radio Host Parker went on to say that “I have some very sad news that I need to share with you this morning and it concerns one of our favourite cricketing sons, former WA and Australian cricketer Ryan Campbell who I am certain you will remember for his swashbuckling batting, he basically invented the ramp shot, and his athletic wicket-keeping, and many would remember him for his fantastic work in the media post his cricket career, This news is a real shock to his family and friends … many of those family and friends Ryan Campbell caught up with just last week when he was here in Perth.”

Parker said Campbell, who coaches the Netherlands national cricket team, was at a Stoke-on-Trent playground with his two children on Saturday when he collapsed and began struggling to breathe.

A passerby started performing CPR on him before paramedics arrived.

Parker further stated “It is late at night right now in the UK and Cambo’s going to spend another night in an induced coma and they will try to bring him out of it again tomorrow, I saw him last week and he looked fit as a fiddle. We’ve heard way too much about heart problems and cricket in the last few weeks.”

Campbell, who lives in the Netherlands, was in the UK visiting his wife’s family for Easter when the incident occurred.

“WA Cricket is in shock to hear of Ryan’s medical emergency after suffering a major heart attack over the long weekend,” WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews said.

“On behalf of all WA Cricket staff, players and the wider cricket community, I would like to pass on our heartfelt thoughts to Ryan, his wife Leontina and their family at this time. We know he is in the best care, and hope he pulls through and is able to make a full and speedy recovery.”

It follows the sudden death of Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, who died of a heart attack aged 52, in March.

Former Australian wicket-keeper Rod Marsh also passed away last month after suffering from a heart attack at age 74.
