Hotels (Commonwealth Union) _ Galgorm Hotel, a luxury resort located in Co Antrim, has announced a £3 million investment to introduce a new range of accommodations, including nine dog-friendly ‘forest dens.’ This development is part of a larger £30 million investment plan revealed in 2021 by the owners, Galgorm Collection, aimed at enhancing the resort’s facilities.
Since 2010, Galgorm Collection has invested £60 million into the venue, situated just outside Ballymena. The recent addition of the forest dens marks the latest phase in their ongoing commitment to improving and expanding the resort’s offerings. Four of these dens have already been completed, with the remaining five set to follow.
The new forest dens offer a unique blend of luxury and nature, providing guests with an immersive experience in Galgorm Wood, located beyond the river Maine. Each den features a private sauna, a wood-fired bath, an outdoor shower, seating with heating, barbecue facilities, and a fire pit, creating what the hotel describes as a “beautifully bohemian backyard.”
Colin Johnston, Galgorm’s managing director, expressed the company’s dedication to maintaining its status as a world-class, award-winning tourism destination. “Our commitment to maintaining Galgorm’s standing as a world-class, award-winning tourism destination has driven us to invest and innovate continually over the last number of years,” said Johnston. “This latest £3 million investment is a testament to our dedication to offering premium and authentic experiences to our guests.”
Johnston also highlighted the resort’s future plans, including the expansion of the Thermal Spa Village set for next year. This expansion will introduce forest walks, a wood-fired sauna, hot tubs, and a rope bridge connecting both sides of the river within the Thermal Spa Village. “Guests can look forward to even more exciting developments, including the expansion of our Thermal Spa Village next summer,” Johnston added.
Galgorm’s accommodation portfolio is already impressive, featuring 125 luxurious guestrooms, 41 cottage suites, 16 shepherd’s huts, six log cabins, and four residences. Each forest den can accommodate two guests and includes an ensuite with a shower, along with access to the Thermal Spa Village during their stay.
This significant investment in new accommodations and facilities underscores Galgorm’s ongoing efforts to enhance its guest experience and solidify its reputation as a premier luxury destination in Northern Ireland.
