DUBAI (CU)_When it comes to the Middle East, it’s safe to say they have massive expat communities. Since most of these communities have children in the schooling age and aren’t really used to the local language and schools there is always a market for foreign international schools to branch out.
That’s how the Germans came into the education market in the UAE as from kindergarten to the graduate level, the German International Schools of the UAE, situated respectively in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah offer education made in Germany. This makes life a lot easier for the expats living there as now their children can have a world class education without language barriers. They are all a part of a current network of 140 German Schools abroad in 72 countries, all certified through the German Conference of Ministers of Education and governed by the Federal Republic of Germany.
The German International School Dubai (DISD) is an accredited and excellent German school. It was founded in 2008, when the education system realized that there was a massive gap to be filled in the United Arab Emirates for children of foreigners that needed an education in case they want to go to foreign universities. DISD is located in Academic City and is owned by the German Consulate General. Around 950 students from more than 30 nations study here in a respectful and open-minded atmosphere.
DISD has been a safe space for learning as well as sports and other activities. Trained education professionals take on their roles very seriously and the children are provided with the best education as well facilities.
DISD fosters the unique German engineering spirit and aspires STEM excellence (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) from kindergarten to the Abitur. The school can be counted among the most modern German Schools abroad. It offers many excellent services to the students enrolled in their schools starting with an absolutely outstanding and inspiring learning environment with probably the most up to date and modern science labs, not one but two libraries and state-of-the-art sports facilities to cater to the students’ needs in every category.
All primary and secondary school classes work with the latest and newest IT technology, implemented with an innovative evidence-based approach. DISD students usually tend to thrive in a multilingual environment and develop into true global citizens with the German language as a core competence.
A large population of the students that go to DISD are fluent and can speak native level of many languages thought in the school. The core language thought in the school however is German but of course students can opt to learn more languages alongside German as well in English and Arabic. The city of Dubai, the region and the world serve as classrooms in stimulating national and international excursions and exchange programmes.
