Deakin University, a highly-ranked Australian institution, and NSDC International (NSDCI), a subsidiary of India’s National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), have joined forces to launch the Global Job Readiness Program (GJRP). This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of India’s workforce with industry-relevant skills.

The GJRP is available on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) platform, providing learners with an accessible and user-friendly interface to hone their work-ready skills and knowledge. Tailored to address the evolving needs of India’s dynamic job market, the program offers capacity-building opportunities for both students and professionals, equipping them with a competitive edge and preparing them for success in local and global industries.

“DeakinCo.’s partnership with NSDC underscores our commitment to empowering India’s youth to access meaningful employment opportunities,” said Angela Girton, Director, Executive Education & CEO, DeakinCo. “This program offers Indian universities a valuable opportunity to equip their students with essential skills for the contemporary industry landscape, ensuring a global perspective.”

The GJRP is offered at two proficiency levels, Foundation and Intermediate, determined by a pre-program assessment. Learners engage in live training sessions and build capabilities in diverse areas through a variety of learning materials, including videos, interactive elements, and diagrams. The program covers six critical areas: communication, collaboration, problem-solving, innovation, digital literacy, and financial literacy.

Upon completion, learners can assess their knowledge through a post-program assessment and earn a digital badge and certification, enhancing their visibility and success in the professional arena.

“The evolving landscape characterized by technological advancements, automation, and artificial intelligence is reshaping industries and job roles,” said Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International. “NSDC is committed to bridging the gap between Indian talent and global employers. The integration of this program onto the Skill India Digital Hub is a significant milestone in our pursuit of holistic skill development.”

The GJRP is designed to provide a well-rounded and engaging learning experience, combining effective skill acquisition with application-oriented evaluation. Learners benefit from a comprehensive search function, personalized recommendations, online assessments, and job matching services. The program prioritizes maximizing the learning and training experience, offering pre- and post-program learning assessments to gauge the impact of the program. Additionally, the program’s complete online delivery empowers learners with flexibility and control over their learning journey.

“Deakin’s collaboration with NSDC International for the Global Job Readiness Program is a strategic initiative with the potential to unlock the potential of India’s ambitious young professionals,” said Ms. Ravneet Pawha, Vice President (Global Alliances) and CEO (South Asia), Deakin University. “By combining Deakin’s global expertise with NSDC’s commitment to skill development, the program equips learners with a unique set of skills that bridge the gap between industry demands and skill sets.”

Launched in November 2023, the GJRP aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the professional world, ultimately contributing to India’s growth by supporting a smooth transition from education to employment. Through extensive research, Deakin and NSDC International identified the essential skills required by the Indian industry and developed the program accordingly. Their findings are consolidated in the report titled “Future Ready: The Imperative of Life Skills for India’s Youth.”

Designed with the needs of the Indian workforce in mind, the GJRP offers a range of courses covering various aspects of professional life, including communication, problem-solving, time management, and leadership. Learners gain a comprehensive understanding of the industry and the skills required to excel in their chosen fields.
