Gold mine managers find themselves in a predicament

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (CU)_Atlantic Mining Nova Scotia Inc., better known as Atlantic Gold, has been extracting gold at the Touquoy mine in Moose River in the Canadian province in Nova Scotia since 2017. However, the operations are expected to come to halt in 2024 since certain storage areas of the mine are already at capacity. Therefore, the company plans to change the way the mine is managed, particularly in the storage of tailings – waste material that is left over after the extraction of gold. The capacity of the area where they are currently being stored is expected to exceed by March 2022.
