Guinness World Records: Shri Ramcharitmanas makes history by scripting the world’s longest song!

-

India (Commonwealth Union)_Shri Ramcharitmanas is garnering global attention and reaching remarkable milestones, as it has now been officially recognized as the world’s longest song, spanning an impressive duration of 138 hours, 41 minutes, and two seconds. The singer of Shri Ramcharitmanas, Dr. Jagdish Pillai, hailing from Varanasi, has achieved a Guinness World Record by singing Shri Ramcharitmanas for such an extensive period. This extraordinary feat has led to Ramcharitmanas being officially named in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest song in the world.

After five years of broadcasting the rendition of Shri Ramcharitmanas on more than 100 authorized audio channels worldwide, Dr. Jagdish Pillai has once again etched his name into the Guinness Book of World Records. He currently possesses the most Guinness records in Uttar Pradesh. Jagdish Pillai revealed that the previous record was set by Mark Christopher Lee and The Pocket Gods from Saint Albans, Hertfordshire, UK, for a song that lasted for 115 hours and 45 minutes, achieved on December 1, 2021.

In his pursuit of setting a new record, Jagdish Pillai composed a fresh melody for the whole book of Shri Ramcharitmanas while also showcasing his instrumental prowess. He sang continuously for 138 hours, 41 minutes, and two seconds, and the performance was broadcast on several official music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. As a result, Guinness World Records has officially named Shri Ramcharitmanas as the “Longest Officially Released Song” and the “Longest Song in the World.”

Earlier in 2016, Jagdish Pillai stated that the record for the longest officially released song in the world was set by an American artist in the instrumental music category. However, motivated by India’s rich epic heritage, such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata, he aspired to break this record and ensured that the record belonged to India. Through his personal rendition and unwavering dedication, Jagdish Pillai relentlessly pursued this goal.

According to the Guinness World Record holder, the video recording of the song commenced on May 20, 2019, adhering to the guidelines set by the Guinness World Records. Unfortunately, the recording was interrupted for more than a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, it resumed later and was successfully concluded last year on November 10. The process of preparing this remarkable 138-hour, 41-minute, and two-second duration song featured extensive recording, editing, and mixing, which collectively took a total of four years, 63 days, and 295 hours.
