Here’s how you can Cut the risk of dementia by fun, simple daily challenges

As your age, genes and health can increase the risk of getting dementia, giving your brain a regular workout is one of the ways you can avoid this condition. According to research in the past about 40%   of dementia cases could be avoided or delayed by aiming at modifiable risk factors throughout your lifetime.

At the Alzheimer’s Society experts have come up with a way to boost your mind power which doesn’t take long and quite interesting.

Dr Tim Beanland, the Head of Knowledge and Learning at the Alzheimer’s Society said:  presently in UK One in three people will go on to develop dementia and it’s the UK’s biggest killer. There’s proof that an active lifestyle is closely connected to healthy ageing, in both body and mind.

A good way to keep your brain healthy is to be mentally active throughout your life. It can be by writing, making art, doing puzzles, learning another language or a musical instrument. Central to this idea of cognitive stimulation is that which should challenge you, which often means trying new things: variety is the spice of brain health.

Cognitive reserve is a person’s capability to handle with such sickness in their brain. It is constructed by keeping the brain vigorous over a person’s lifetime. The more cognitive reserve an individual has, the longer it takes for any illnesses in their brain to cause problems with daily tasks. People with a smaller cognitive reserve are at a more risk of developing dementia in their lifetime.
