This yearly event highlighted Sri Lanka’s tourist appeals and cultural diversity while fostering peace, harmony, and creativity among countries. The festival drew an impressive array of 55 kite flyers from 25 countries across five continents. Participants showcased their traditions and cultural heritage while representing nations such as Germany, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand, France, Australia, and Vietnam, turning the Colombo skyline into a colorful spectacle.

Together with the international group, 500 local kite fans participated in the festival, highlighting Sri Lanka’s expanding community of kite lovers. Featuring elaborate traditional kite patterns and grand representations of animals and mythical characters, the festival highlighted creativity and global cooperation.

It also provided a chance for international guests to enjoy Sri Lanka’s authentic cuisine, traditions, and famous hospitality. Throughout their three-week stay, they visited major tourist attractions while engaging with the local culture. Their appreciation for the country’s culture and travel opportunities showcased the festival’s success not only as an artistic occasion but also as an essential tourism marketing initiative.

Such events enhance global relations and pave the way for future partnerships in culture, arts, and tourism.

The festival wrapped up with an elegant gala dinner organized by Sri Lanka Tourism, under the patronage of Hon. Deputy Minister of Tourism, Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe. This event allowed attendees, local organizers, and officials to connect, share ideas, and build relationships, further enriching the collaborative spirit that the festival represents.
