Historic heat wave coming up from the south

OTTAWA (CU)_Extremely high temperatures is not so common in Canada, even in the Southern provinces such as British Columbia and Alberta. For instance, in Edmonton, Alberta temperatures above 30°C are reported on an average of four days per year, while in Calgary, this is five days per year. Even then, these extreme temperatures do not occur over few days in a row. The all-time record of hottest temperature of 37.2°C was reported from Edmonton nearly a century ago, back in 1937, while five consecutive days of temperature above 32°C was last recorded from the city in June 1961.

Now, so many decades later, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a warning…
