Forging closer bilateral ties on climate change

SINGAPORE (CU)_UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab met with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Thursday (24 June) as the British official wrapped up a three-nation trip to Southeast Asia. During his meeting, the parties discussed several matters of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, security, human rights and the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. As the United Kingdom is president of the UN climate talks this year (COP26), the two countries were also keen to deepen cooperation to accelerate climate action across the Indo-Pacific region in order to set net zero targets ahead of COP26 in Glasgow this November.
