Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has unveiled an ambitious vision for India, predicting that the country will rise to become one of the world’s top 10 tourist destinations within the next five years. This forecast highlights India’s growing prominence on the global tourism stage and reflects the sector’s increasing contribution to the nation’s economy.
Speaking at a recent tourism forum, Shekhawat outlined a strategic plan to boost India’s tourism sector, projecting that its economic contribution will climb from the current 7.9% to over 10% in the near future. He pointed out that 65% of all inbound tourists currently visit only seven Indian states, indicating a concentration of tourist activity.
