India (Commonwealth) _ From February 21 to 26, around 500 cyclists representing 18 nations will compete for the top spot in the 43rd Asian Track Cycling Championship, which will take place at the renowned IG Indoor Stadium in the capital.

In what is expected to be Asia’s greatest cycling spectacle, the cyclists will compete in a number of categories, including Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Junior, Women Junior, and Para Events. Maninder Pal Singh, secretary general of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), told reporters that the race will function as the last Track Continental meet prior to the Olympics in Paris.

The battle will be much more intense since the riders’ points total will be crucial in deciding how they rank in the Olympic qualification process. Leading cycling nations including China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Iran, he claimed, have entered, guaranteeing a fiercely competitive field.

Prominent riders from China, Korea, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, together with Olympic medalists and past world champions, will compete for the top spot, guaranteeing exciting on-track competitions.
Nepal, Kazakhstan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Iran, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, UAE, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Macau, China, and the host nation, India, make up the total number of participating nations.

He had great expectations for a podium result for the Indian squad, saying it will be led by the strong Sprint quartet of David Beckham, Rojit Singh, Esow Albel, and former Junior world champion Mr. Ronaldo Singh. He gave off the impression that India may also go for a gold medal with players like Ms. Dhandhya JP, the most recent Asian Championship medallist, in their ranks.

With the knowledgeable coaching of two-time Olympic and six-time World medallist Mr. Kevin Sireau, the Indian team of sixty riders is ready to give their best-ever performance on the Asian circuit. Six nations, including India, will participate in Para Events as a sign of inclusion, displaying the spirit of tenacity and resiliency. He said, “We are sure that the competition will give athletes an amazing stage to compete at the top stage and excite the next generation of cyclists.”

In a speech to the media, Asian Cycling Confederation Secretary General Onkar Singh stated, “We are thrilled to be working with India to host the 43rd Asian Track Cycling Championships.” We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the organizers and anticipate exciting races that highlight the brilliance and the variety of Asian cycling.

Mr. Raja Sapto Octohari, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), Indonesia, and Senior Vice President of ACC, among others, would be attending the event, he added, adding prominence to the occasion. Mr. Osama Al Shafar, President of ACC and Vice President of UCI, will also be there.

Asian Cycling Championships

Since 1963, the national governing body (member states of the Asian Cycling Confederation) has selected only Asian riders for these biennial continental cycling championships in road bicycle racing and track cycling. Since 2017, road and track cycling competitions are held independently. Commencing on February 21st. The championship’s 43rd edition is scheduled to take place in Delhi from February 21 to 26.

The Pakistani contingent received prompt approval from both our Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs, CFI secretary Mahinder said in an interview with ANI. However, their nation does experience some political instability. When we spoke with our Pakistani colleagues, they stated that they were still attempting to obtain official approval. Pakistan most likely won’t participate in this Asian Championship. The world and Olympic champions are among the eighteen teams who will compete in the competition, according to Mahinder.

The largest field of riders to compete in an Asian cycling championship to date is 500. This title is like a beacon of optimism for us, along with a task. Both the athletes and the organization are thrilled to host a competition of this magnitude. He said, “We are prepared to meet and exceed everyone’s expectations, both on and off the field.”

Mahinder stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of hosting the Olympics in India in 2036 is being moved closer with each major event that India hosts.

India is one of PM Modi’s preferred destinations for the Olympics. We had previously planned several significant events, particularly continental competitions, including a Chess Olympiad. These, according to Mahinder, are the first steps toward realizing PM’s ambition and demonstrating to the rest of the world our superior organizational abilities.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi stated that India is now pursuing ambitious objectives, including the hosting of the Olympics and Youth Olympics in the future.  Prime Minister Modi made the following statement to party leaders and supporters on Sunday at the cutting-edge Bharat Mandapam on the last day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Convention: “India is setting great goals today… We are getting ready for the 2029–2030 Youth Olympics. Our goal is to have our nation host the Olympics in 2036.”

The Winter Youth Olympics will take place in Gangwon, South Korea this year from January 19 to February 1, while the Summer Youth Olympics will take place in Dakar, Senegal in 2026. This is the multi-sport competition that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is hosting for athletes between the ages of 15 and 18.
