Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ Indian actor and motorsport enthusiast Ajith Kumar and his racing team have achieved an impressive fourth-place finish at the prestigious Barcelona 24H Race, while also securing third place in the AM class of the Michelin Creventic Porsche GT3 Cup, part of the European Endurance Championship 2025. Ajith raced alongside teammates Ralph Poppelaars, Huub van Eijndhoven, Cameron McLeod, and Gregory Servais. The result marks a proud moment for Indian motorsports, as the team represented the country on a global platform.

However, celebrations have been low-key out of respect for the victims of the recent stampede tragedy in Karur. According to sources, Ajith has chosen to keep the spotlight on racing subdued during this sensitive time. Earlier this year, Ajith made a strong return to racing after a 15-year break, finishing on the podium at the Dubai 24H in January. With the Barcelona result, the team has now earned its second podium of the season, a significant accomplishment in one of Europe’s most demanding endurance events.

The team had a strong start, clinching pole position during the qualifiers. After the session, a visibly emotional Ajith said, “This is the culmination of our dreams. I’m grateful to every member of the team. I’m hopeful this weekend will go well; it means a lot for motorsport back home in India. I feel more confident than ever in the car on this circuit, and I’m already looking forward to the next season.” Ajith also took a moment to acknowledge his wife, Shalini, for her unwavering support. “There’s so much she handles on her own. Without her, none of this would be possible. While I’m away, she’s the one holding everything together,” he said in an earlier interview.

Speaking to media from Barcelona, Ajith emphasized that racing is far from glamorous. “Eighty percent of drivers in any series are fighting hard to find sponsors. Many of them are among the best in the world. This sport demands everything you’ve got.” On the film front, Ajith was last seen in Good Bad Ugly and is expected to reunite with director Adhik Ravichandran soon. Meanwhile, his 2004 film Attahasam is set for a theatrical re-release on October 31.
