Tahera Qutbuddin, has been awarded the 2020 Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Arabic Culture in Other Languages. She is the first Indian-born individual to receive the highly honorable international prize. Qutbuddin’s latest book named ‘Arab Oration: Art & Function’ published by Brill Publishers in 2019 won her the award.
Dr. Qutbuddin’s book was lauded for her thorough understanding of oral tradition studies and ideas, as well as her excellent acquaintance with ancient Arabic literature. Qutbuddin is also a member of the editorial board of the Library of Arabic Literature at NYU Abu Dhabi. She graduated from Harvard University in the United States with a PhD and MA, as well as a BA and Tamhidi Magister from Ain Shams University in Cairo, and obtained her high school diploma from Sophia College in Mumbai.
