RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (CWBN)_ The G20 Riyadh Summit Leaders Declaration stated that the G20 Summit will be held in India in 2023, a year later than previously discussed. The Declaration was released on Sunday (November 22) following the conclusion of the 2020 virtual summit hosted by Saudi Arabia.

“We thank Saudi Arabia for hosting a successful Riyadh Summit and its contribution to the G20 process. We look forward to our next meetings in Italy in 2021, Indonesia in 2022, India in 2023 and Brazil in 2024,” the G20 Riyadh Summit Leaders Declaration said.

Reports indicate that the order of the presidency is decided by member nations based on consultations and mutual convenience. The presidency of the G20 rotates between member countries every year and the president holds the conference in their country during that year.

“Was honoured to address #G20 partners again on the 2nd day of the Virtual Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia. Reiterated the importance of reforms in multilateral organizations to ensure better global governance for faster post-COVID recovery,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Sunday.

The focus of this year’s summit was the COVID-19 pandemic. The declaration stated that the G20 leaders remained committed to shaping a strong post-COVID-19 era. It also stated that they remain true to the commitments made at the Extraordinary G20 Leader’s Summit held in March to support world health. The summit was held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
