India (Commonwwealth Union)_ Satyam Kumar, a name that has become synonymous with exceptional talent and perseverance, is also recognized as the youngest person in India to have cleared the prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) at the age of just 13. Born into a modest family in Bhojpur district, Bihar, Satyam’s journey to becoming an IITian is a remarkable tale of determination, sacrifice, and brilliance. Satyam’s story begins in a small, rural setting where his father, Sidhnath Singh, worked as a farmer. Growing up in a family struggling with financial constraints, Satyam’s early education was a challenge. In fact, until the eighth grade, he did not have any formal schooling. This gap in his education was primarily due to the lack of resources at the local government school, coupled with the financial hardships his family faced.

In 2007, when Satyam enrolled in the eighth grade, his life took a turn. His academic potential quickly became apparent, and after completing his Rajasthan board exams, he moved to Kota, a well-known educational hub, to attend Modern School. The principal of the school, R.K. Verma, recognizing his extraordinary talent, took it upon himself to sponsor Satyam’s educational and coaching expenses, enabling him to prepare for the IIT-JEE. The turning point in Satyam’s life came in 2012, when he first appeared for the JEE at the age of 12. Despite a valiant effort, he secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 8137, which was not satisfactory for him. Undeterred by this initial setback, Satyam made a second attempt in 2013, and this time, he achieved a phenomenal AIR of 679. This incredible feat earned him a spot at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, where he pursued a BTech-MTech dual degree in Electrical Engineering.
