review the travel ban on Indian travellers due to a decrease in the number of daily reported cases. The Biden administration has upgraded India’s travel advisory from category 4, which is no travel, to category 3, which encourages citizens to rethink their travel plans.

As a result, numerous Indian tourists have been able to visit the United States. However, tourists from India must test negative for Covid before boarding their flight under this arrangement. Vaccination is mandatory; otherwise, travelers would be subjected to a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Despite the safety procedures initiated by both countries, there is still a possibility for the virus infection. Furthermore, not all visa holders of various work, student, and guest visas, such as H-1B, L1, F-1, and B1/B2, may be able to work remotely.

Devi Rathod, an Indian-American logistician, has personally experienced the consequences of the travel restrictions imposed on Indians. In March 2020, she returned to India to renew her visa. Rathod, however, was stranded in India for several months due to a sudden amendment in Indian American travel laws. Many universities and workplaces have made it essential for foreign students and employees to take a Covid exam before returning.

Sadekar advises visa holders and travellers to obtain visitor health insurance along with Covid coverage, which will cover treatment costs in the event of a coronavirus infection. Pallavi Sadekar, chief marketing executive of the leading Visitor Insurance provider VisitorGuard.com based in the USA, said, “A possible solution to the situation is Health Insurance against Covid-19. Though the possibility of an infection is reduced it is not yet completely eliminated”.

In case of an infection, insurance firms claim that the cost of a Covid-19 test will be covered by the visitor’s health insurance plan if it is part of the diagnostics needed by the provider to analyze the condition. Several reputable insurance firms are now providing multiple insurance policies to US travelers at cheap rates, with a special coverage for covid like other illnesses. While efforts are being taken to prevent the spread of the infections, insurance experts say that a separate health insurance for Covid-19 provides an extra protection to handle the repercussions of a Covid infection. It is strongly advised that Indian tourists to the United States buy visitor health insurance in advance.
