Kenya (Commonwealth) _ The World Schools Cross Country Championships are scheduled to take place at the Ngong Race Course from May 10–15. The International School Sport Federation (ISF) is pleased with the actions done by the Kenyan government to guarantee that these events are well-prepared.

The World Schools Cross Country Championships are being hosted in Africa for the first time, and this year’s organizers hope to see over 500 competitors from more than 100 schools worldwide. Consequently, the government of Kenya inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International School Sport Federation (ISF) making Kenya the host nation for the 2024 ISF World School Cross Country Championships.

Kipchumba Maiyo, the chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), and Laurent Petrynka, the president of ISF, signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the Ministry of Education’s Jogoo House offices.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu applauded the ISF’s decision to give Kenya the hosting rights of the international competition, which will see students from over 134 countries compete in the championship at the Ngong Race Course. He was present at the ceremony with Principal Secretary for Basic Education Dr. Belio Kipsang. Machogu said that his ministry will do all in its power, working with other partners, to produce a championship fit for a king.

I guarantee the government will make certain this championship is successfully held, as ISF and KSSSA have already done. In order to organize a fantastic event in May of the next year, we will get in touch with the relevant partners, such as the Ministry of Sports, in keeping with our one-government philosophy, stated Machogu.

He continued by saying that sports were now firmly embedded in the curriculum in Kenya thanks to educational reforms, giving gifted youth the chance to develop their passion and pursue careers in it. The head of the international school sports governing organization expressed his happiness following the government’s support commitment, noting that Kenya’s hosting of the event will further reinforce her great heritage in athletics.

I’m pleased with Kenya’s government’s dedication to making sure this event is a success. After the government’s backing and dedication to this event, we’ve signed all the agreements, and I can confirm that ISF is satisfied, stated Petrynka.

ISF Executive Committee Member Olabisi Joseph stated that Kenya’s hosting the tournament will solidify her great legacy in athletics. Joseph inspected the event’s venue with Basic Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang and Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei.

Since Kenya was given the honor of hosting this event for the first time, we are applauding that country’s decision. We’re hoping Kenya will provide us with a great occasion. School athletics play a critical role in forming kids’ futures and identifying the next generation of world-class athletes. Olabisi, the head of the Nigeria School Sport Federation, stated, “That’s why we’re very serious about this championship.” (NSSF).

In addition to athletic events, the organizers intend to add cultural activities to the tournament to provide delegates with a chance to interact and gain knowledge about each competitor and their nation. Sports bring people together despite our differences in borders, cultures, and colors. Sports transcend all boundaries and obstacles. She said, “We use sports to teach our kids the right values, and I implore all nations to include sports in their curricula.”

According to PS Kipsang, Kenya’s educational reform has included sports into the curriculum, giving gifted youth the opportunity to develop their passion to the maximum. Sports play a significant role in our educational system, and our plans provide time for co-curricular activities. That demonstrates how committed we are as a ministry to developing those emerging talents.

He went on to say that he was grateful to Korir (Barnaba) and the Local Organizing Committee for making sure that our nation is headed in the right direction and will provide an amazing event. The globe may anticipate an amazing event in May as Kenya has played home to notable international competitions including the globe Under-20 Championship and the Continental Tour.

Tuwei said that Kenya will host an event of the highest caliber worthy of its stature.
Athletics Kenya is prepared to assist the Ministry of Education in making sure the event in May is a success. We’ll be ready to coach those up-and-coming players as well.

Three age groups will be represented in the event: under 12, under 15, and under 18. In addition to athletic events, the organizers intend to add cultural activities to the tournament to provide delegates with a chance to interact and gain knowledge about each competitor and their nation.

Slovakia hosted the 25th edition of the event last year.
