NIGERIA (COMMONWEALTH UNION) – it seems that rock bottom is what most countries are hitting these days as Lagos state Government. They official statement was that they have started to now distribute palliatives to the citizens of Lagos to somewhat better the fact that there is no fuel or currency in the state.

It isn’t only Lagos that is going through this. There are many different parts of Africa and the world going through this kind of crisis. But Lagos is however the first country to come up with a solution to somewhat hopeful pacify the citizens till a solution can be found.

This was a good call on the part of the government as there have been people protesting in Lagos and the protest have turned into riots where banks were burnt down by mobs. This turned dangerous when there were casualties recoded because of this.

The Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu just a week ago made a statement that he is trying his level best to make sure that the people will not suffer too many hardships because of this crisis. He has stated that he is giving out palliatives to make sure the people have some kind of comfort or a cushion to help them with the suffering.

Thus far the people seem to be responding very slowly. One must understand that the people are rioting only because there is a possibility that this was not the first time this promise was made or maybe if the government had paid attention to the promises made then the country would not be in this situation.

The people of Lagos have been going thought a hard period because of the lack of money in the banks and also the lack of fuel. There is a chance that this measure of distribution done by the government is not enough to cushion the blow that the people are going through. Although Governor Baba seems to reiterate the fact that he and the government is well aware of the suffering the people don’t seem to be happy about the situation.
