UK (Commonwealth) _ Jim Dalton rode smoothly to win his second title at Darley Moor this Sunday, adding the 2024 open 50 crown to his 2021 Classic British 50 triumph on the same bike.

A hard year marked by a hand injury sustained throughout the season and additional issues following an accident. Although it appeared that the season would end in July, Jim Dalton was able to skip just one round.

After a tumultuous 18 months recuperating from an injury and receiving a new knee, Jim stated: “2024 proved to be quite an up and down year with a fair share of bike and more health problems.”Nonetheless, it demonstrates the significance of the adage “you have to be in it to win it.” I am grateful to the SJL Racing and RLT Racing teams for their unwavering support, which kept me going. And thanks for your support throughout the season to all of the Ultralightweight cyclists.

Next year, when I turn 70, I’ll be celebrating by returning to work with the Ultralightweight organizational team and traveling extensively in warmer climates starting this autumn.I’ll be attempting to compete on the mighty tiny bike and other bikes whenever I can find a free weekend, provided that the UK becomes a little warmer.

Jay won the ACU ultralightweight EVO class on Sunday at Darely Moor. This is an open class for modified 125cc four-stroke vehicles. After crashing out of the first race of the day, Jay made a triumphant comeback to cap off a fantastic championship season.

“I really enjoyed competing in the ultra lightweight champs this year had some great racing with Morgan Max Will and Paul,” Jay stated when I asked him about his season. Excellent, safe, and close racing, along with a fantastic paddock to enjoy.

I’ll be competing in the ACU Ultralightweight Championships again next year, hoping to retain my title and race my Mini Twin. At the weekend’s round 10, which was expertly run by the Scunthorpe MCC, Alice Minta, riding her Nigel Birket Scorpa UK-supported bike, won her second ACU Ladies Trials Championship, sponsored by Belle Trailers. At Hooten Lodge Trials Park Doncaster, Kev Witting and his crew had set up an excellent trial with rugged banks and some arena portions mixed in.

Alicia Robinson Beta UK came in second place with 12 marks lost, while Minta lost a total of three throughout the day. Donna Fox Montesa, making a welcome comeback, finished third with 31 points.

IOM Kaytlyn Adshead TRS had to retire because to illness. Kaytlyn was feeling under the weather when she got back from her trip to Europe. The Ladies Inters was won by Nicki Louise Scunthorpe Club with 35 points, Ruby McCubbin IOM with 47, and Lauren Taylor Scarborough Club with 60.

Girls B and Sophie Furguson Beta of Ireland kept up their winning ways, losing 35 points, just like the winner of the Ladies Inter. Next on 80 marks was Daisy Craig, followed by Lauren Taylor Scarborough on 114.

Scarlett Collins of Trials Training Club Wales won the Girls C class with just six marks, followed by Jodie Cummins of Scunthorpe MCC with fourteen and Lilly Wright of Kent Youth with eighteen.

With only 3 marks lost, Harper Oliver Lanfyllin MCC was the best in the D class; Allessandra Beaumont came in second with 12 and Cloe Charlton in first with 14.

After that, the riders headed south to Derbyshire for the series’ last round, which was held at the renowned Bracken Rocks venue and hosted by the Mansfield Maun MCC.

There were four laps on a rough course. With Alicia Robinson on 24, Alice Minta lost a total of 13 marks, continuing her winning streak. Carie Dickenson came in close on 57, but Nicky Louis grabbed the inters on 55. Daisy Mai Mitchell and Lilly Butterworth trailed Daisy Craig in the B class on 63. Girls D went to Harper Oliver on 45 and Chloe Charlton on 37.

The 2024 series was excellent, with a decent range of locations with steady admission prices all through the series.

The Auto Cycle Union expresses gratitude to Belle Trailers, the series sponsor, for their support. This gratitude will be split equally with the organizing clubs, who the ACU also acknowledges for their significant efforts to the 2024 season.
