Kamala Harris’s husband expresses pride on her historic win

Washington, USA (CWBN)_ Kamala Harris won the US Vice Presidential election 2020 and made history as the first woman Vice President of the United States. She also made record as the first Black woman and the first woman of Indian origin to occupy the office. With her historic win, she made her husband Douglas Emhoff the first-ever second gentleman of the country.

Shortly after the US media announced the election results in favor of Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, Mr. Emhoff congratulated his wife saying that he is proud of her. He took to his social media handle and wrote “So proud of you” and also shared a lovely picture which shows them hugging.

In the meantime, the new Vice President Kamala Harris introduced her husband to her 12 million Instagram followers in a special post where she wrote “Meet the love of my life, @DouglasEmhoff”. She also shared a picture of them taken during her acceptance speech, where she could be seen dressed in a white suit with her husband by her side.

In response to Harris’s post in Instagram, Mr Emhoff reposted the picture and wrote a sweet note. He wrote, “Love you Madam Vice President-elect.”

In 2014, Kamala Harris and Douglas Emhoff got married, where she for the first time and he for the second time, and they both are 56 now. The couple met the first time on a blind date arranged by friends, and later, Mr. Emhoff said “it was love at first sight”.

Mr Emhoff was born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey. He is an accomplished lawyer specialised in media, sports and entertainment law. Apart from this, he was also credited as a “secret weapon” on the campaign trail for his wife. He also marked another milestone by becoming the first Jew to be part of America’s first or second families. He is said to have happy memories of Jewish summer camp, where he also won athletic awards.
