(Commonwealth) _ We all have one; the small pocket PC we use to check essential emails and surf aimlessly on social media for an hour. Smartphones may be used for socialization or pleasure, and they are becoming increasingly crucial for work, school, and information collecting. To be honest, functioning without one is unthinkable.

Given the importance of these gadgets, it’s no surprise that just a few large corporations globally manufacture them. In 2020, 1.38 billion cellphones were sold globally. That’s more than 300 times the number of persons born that year!

Apple has long been a symbol of innovation, producing the most popular phones in America and the second most popular internationally. The firm employs 147,000 employees across 25 countries, which is far fewer than Samsung.

After the release of the iPhone in 2007, Apple rose to prominence in the smartphone business. It was the first touchscreen phone to have full internet connectivity, which was unheard of at the time. Over 2 billion iPhones have been sold since their introduction, believe it or not. In contrast to Android, Apple devices run the iOS operating system. Apple created iOS especially for their devices, and it takes advantage of Apple’s highly developed mobile app framework. Apple’s App Store, for example, has over 2.1 million iOS applications!

Samsung, which first appeared on the South Korean electronic scene in 1969, is still the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer. The corporation employs almost 290,000 people worldwide and operates in 74 countries.

Variants of the Samsung Galaxy, such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, the Galaxy A52, and the Galaxy A32, are among the company’s most popular devices today. Overall, the Galaxy is the company’s most visible and advertised brand, and it is manufactured and uses semiconductor chips created by its subsidiary Samsung Electronics.

The Android operating system is used to allow functionality in mobile touchscreen devices such as smartphones. Most notably, Android is closely associated with Google Mobile Services (GMS), which contains important programs such as Google Chrome and Google Play.

As the global smartphone user base grows year after year, it’s no wonder that mobile commerce sales are also reaching all-time highs. Having said that, knowing some mobile usage data might be useful when developing a digital marketing plan.

According to the most recent figures on smartphone market share globally, Apple leads the race as of January 2023, with a market share of 27.63%. This means that approximately three out of every ten smartphone users globally own an Apple device.

Samsung comes in second place on the list of the most popular smartphone manufacturers. The South Korean firm controls 27.1% of the smartphone market, only 0.53% less than Apple.

It did, however, more than quadruple its share, finishing the year with 4.75%. The Indian market appears to be in good shape right now. It is no longer a seller’s market, and it has evolved into one of the world’s greatest consumer marketplaces. Today’s Indian market is founded on the perfect competition concept, with both buyers and sellers present.

Following Xiaomi are Oppo and Vivo, with 6.4% and 5.26% of the market share, respectively. Huawei is the sixth-largest smartphone maker, with 4.62% of the smartphone market.

These six companies control 83.52% of the worldwide smartphone market. In other words, they produce more than four out of every five cellphones in use worldwide.

In 2023, the Smartphones category generates $41.73 billion in revenue. The market is predicted to expand by 7.32% each year (CAGR 2023-2027). What is the Indian smartphone industry scenario?

The India Smartphone market was valued at US$ 139 billion in 2021, and it is predicted to expand at a CAGR of 10.5% to US$ 281 billion by 2028. The India Smartphone industry research is based on a comprehensive examination of the whole Indian smartphone market.
