AFRICA (COMMONWEALTH UNION) – When it comes to love with humans, they say love is blind. There are versus written by poets and even the gods that when you you’re your true love then nothing really matters. but yet again this only applied to the human.
But it seems that the animal kingdom also may have the same rules when it comes to certain animals. But of course this is where love was found when the animal in question was very much senior than the partner chosen.
It seems that a female African penguin has been causing a scandal when she made a home in a private enclosure with a male 30 years her Junior!
The 43-year-old penguin fondly known as ET has found love and whilst it may not be a hopeless place the enclosure provides them with enough privacy to enjoy the new budding romance in the Richmond Zoo.
ET is also the world’s oldest penguin and there have been mates before the young male she is mating with now. It seems that she found companionship with this young male after she was bullied by her colony for being matless.
The zoo confirmed that ET did have two mates before and she managed to outlive both of them. Since penguins are known to only have one mate at a time this rarity shows that ET was one of her kind that has made it to 2 mates let alone 3 mates!
Her new lover Einstein is only 13 years of age which whilst is mature in penguin years he is a baby compared to the 43-year-old ET.
The zookeepers stated that ET was still a very healthy penguin and it was attributed t her genetics. It is int sure if she will out live her much younger mate. But its safe to say that there may be a betting pool with some heavy bets.
