Major carbon emitter eyes clean energy-based economy

NEW DELHI (CU)_Over the recent years, global leaders, environment experts, campaigners and businesses have been accelerating their efforts to minimise greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to slow global warming. Several countries across the globe, such as Germany, Japan, Canada and South Korea, have expressed their intention to commit to carbon neutrality in the near future, while many other countries, including the United Kingdom and France, have already enacted legislations promising to achieve this goal by 2050. Even China has promised to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
