discuss their health concerns anonymously with practitioners of the same gender. Additionally, it is user-friendly and ensures complete secrecy and has been curated for their convenience with a simple two-step registration process. Female patients may now call a special phone number to arrange for a video consultation at an inexpensive consultation charge of INR 250. Women from any part of the world can use the service to meet their medical needs.

In India, most women put their health concerns on hold due to their shyness and avoid discussing them with their families. There is an urgent need to end this silence and to open up about the difficulties women encounter, including physical or mental health-related issues. To break this silence, Manipal Hospitals has launched a program called ‘For Women, By Women’. It is an online video consultation platform where female patients may meet with physicians of the same gender to address their health concerns. The private consultation initiative was introduced this week and has already been operationalized.

According to the hospital release, the platform handles any issues that women may have, including a lump or swelling in the armpit, missing period, mental exhaustion, pain, fatigue, weight loss, headache, and psychological-emotional disorders and other health issues. Further, it has been arranged for their convenience, with a simple two-step registration process that confirms complete secrecy. According to the statement from the hospital, “It is time for women to open their deepest worries and find comfort in the arms of women specialists at Manipal Hospitals”.

Karthik Rajagopal, COO of Manipal Hospitals, spoke about how the initiative benefits women in addressing their health issues. He said, “We understand the challenges women face and endeavor to ease the process for them to reach out for medical support. We want every woman to share her silence and avoid suffering from it”. He added, “We have attempted to clear the roadblocks for women patients to come forward and openly share their health problems. We understand that every woman needs to find comfort in disclosing their issues, and we attempt to provide it in a timely and cost-effective manner”.
