MAURITIUS (Commonwealth Union) – The World Travel Awards have come and gone and the countries that won will be flowing with tourists and we couldn’t be happier. It was Mauritius that came in with 3 destination prizes and the island nation deserved it for the beauty it holds that has visitors mesmerized form the moment they land there.

Located on the Indian ocean, the little island is the home to some of the most beautiful beaches, along with tropical locations that would have most islands turning green with jealousy. Mauritius bagged the leading Indian ocean destination as its first prize. Of course, everyone had no doubt the island would win this for no other island can compete with the beauty this island holds. Apart from the beauty of the island, the habitants of the island have the most beautiful hearts and all are welcomed with open arms.

The second prize Mauritius won was that it was the most visited tropical island. It was a fight between this and a few islands but Mauritius brought home the gold with the fact that they offer luxury but at an affordable price. If one were looking for a romantic getaway with their partner then Mauritius will offer you the best luxury deals, they have to suit your budget. This makes it easier for people to make decisions to visit the island and not break the bank to do so.

The third award was for accessibility and hospitality. This was not an easy award to win as a lot of countries have amazing hospitality and are accessible all year around. Nevertheless, Mauritius again had the edge and for that they came out on top.

These awards play a big part in building a country’s international view and it is nice to see that countries are winning and getting the recognition they deserve.
