Meritorious Pakistani students to get Oxford scholarships!

-

Under the OPP’s graduate scholarship program, the scholarship will help cover tuition fees and living expenses for students. The OPP awards a minimum of three graduate scholarships annually to deserving Pakistani and British Pakistani students. The Oxford Scholarship will be formed as a five-year initiative, with cash being contributed annually and awarded on a rolling basis. It was made possible by Ali Tareen, an alumnus of Kellogg College, Oxford. The statement further added that the scholarship is expected to benefit the recipients and create a positive spillover by raising the aspirations of other similar outstanding individuals in the communities from which Tareen scholars will be chosen. Additionally, it is a major step towards making Oxford’s academic community more open and diverse.

The scholarship program involves two major initiatives. Firstly, an access program for final year students wishing to pursue graduate degrees. This includes an Access Conference for South Punjab final year students planning to apply for MSc and PhD degrees overseas. The top 20 Access Conference registrants will get complimentary one-on-one mentoring with an Oxford student or recent alumnus.

Secondly, for FSc toppers and first-year public sector university toppers, 100 students from South Punjab who topped their FSc examinations or earned the highest grades in their first year of university will be selected. These students will receive mentorship on how to maximize their next three to four years, career guidance, and one-on-one mentoring to help them become the finest minds in the world.
