Now is the moment to reconsider how we cut carbon emissions

(Commonwealth Union)_ Since the cost of living in New York has skyrocketed this year, many people have moved to the suburbs and some have left the country altogether. Along with rising rental expenses in recent months, the cost of basic necessities like food and energy have also increased dramatically.

However, it’s not just Americans who are feeling the effects of inflation. It has an influence on prices across several industries and on consumers everywhere. One factor that contributes to inflation that is frequently ignored is climate change.

This implies that a monthly gift of only $10 can reduce your carbon impact. Support from donors  have enabled Tuik Ruch Lew (TRL) projects to improve the living conditions of the indigenous Maya population in Guatemala’s Lake Atitlán region.

The primary goal of TRL is to spread the energy-saving, clean-burning ONIL cookstoves, which capture 99% of indoor air pollution. These stoves not only reduce pollutants, but they also safeguard residents’ respiratory health and the health of the lake’s ecosystem more effectively than open fire cookstoves. These stoves’ efficiency allows for a reduction in deforestation rates, carbon emissions, and family time and energy spent gathering wood bundles. The TRL personnel has been unable to distribute or fix stoves inside of homes because of COVID-19.

The organisation has already prevented approximately a million tons of CO2 from entering the environment because to the help of donors from across the globe. A typical family of nearly eight individuals may live a healthy life thanks to each stove you help make possible!

Contributions to Potential Energy and the Darfur Stoves Project have also benefited the nearby villages in West Nile, Uganda, much as your contributions to TRL’s cookstove project in Guatemala benefited the native Maya people. Through the creation of hundreds of marketing materials, contributions made to this initiative over its first six months helped store owners and female trainees sell 145 sustainable stoves. Branded promotional items like posters, t-shirts, pencils, and notepads boost sales and have a beneficial influence on the local economies of West Nile towns.

The wider distribution of environmentally friendly cookstoves like those made by Berkley Darfur Stoves encourages women’s empowerment, aids locals and refugees in developing healthy cooking practices, and safeguards the environment by using solar energy.
