NIGERIA (Commonwealth Union) – It looks like African industries are taking a personal interest in the education of the people in their areas. We come to Nigeria where education has been a hot topic for a little while now. Whilst there are politicians along with governmental personalities fighting for the educational fairness for the people ,now it seems that the private sector has also come along and joined the good fight.

We come to Olam Agri. Olam Agri is one of the biggest Agri businesses in Nigeria. They also do huge number of imports to all over the world and they bring the much-needed dollars, euros and pounds in to Nigeria. Now since agriculture is a heavy education sector it is also a little expensive. Olam has stepped in and created a foundation by the name of Seeds of the Future Foundation.

What Olam as a company does is mainly out their focus into food, feed and fiber. This means there needs to be more students interested in the subject. They seek to get the younger minds interested, particularly from the working class of framers to have them better educated.

The foundation not only provides free education but they also provides solutions like sustainability, new technology and affordable solutions in general. This could mean that if this was a continued foundation then the Agri business could grow in leaps and bounds. It would then create job opportunities along the way and the unemployed rates would drop.

The country could well be on its way down a good road because of this initiative. With the giants in the Agri business starting things like this it’s only a matter of time before giants from other industries start to follow. This is a good thing not only for Nigeria but for any country.
