Pakistan projects billion dollar growth in IT exports by 2023

Islamabad, Pakistan (CWBN)_ It was recently reported that Pakistan’s export revenues from the information technology sector and the IT enabled services (ITES) grew by a record 38.16 percent between July and November this year, and was valued at USD 648.94 million.

It is the highest spike in growth rates since that reached the same period in 2018, recording about 13 percent, meanwhile the remittance for 2019 was recorded at USD 469.71 million.

Minister of IT and Telecommunications, Sayed Amin Ul Haque said that Pakistan expects to ramp up the IT sector business from secondary and tertiary cities, in a bid to reach growth of about USD 5 billion by 2023.

He added that the Pakistan Software Export Board has also been instructed to waive its registration fees for IT and ITES businesses from less affluent areas across the country, in addition to three year tax breaks and other incentives that are due to be implemented.

“We are taking all possible steps to ensure sustainable growth of Pakistan’s IT industry and to ensure close coordination with the IT industry and associated stakeholders,” Haque said.
