Salmonella and other bacteria can be found in pet food, which puts humans at risk as well. Pets who get the infection may not usually show symptoms. But if they do, they can experience nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, fever, appetite loss, and low energy.

Pets can still shed the bacterium through feces, regardless of symptoms. As a result, people and other animals may get sick.

Salmonella infections in people can cause diarrhea, fever, and cramping. For the majority of patients, there is no need for treatment. However, some people may be at danger from salmonella. They could get a severe case of the illness that would require hospitalization.

Customers must decide what to do with any Darwin’s pet food they might have in their freezers since there isn’t a product recall at this time.

Customers who exhibit signs of a Salmonella infection ought to see a physician. Similarly, if their animals become ill, they should see vets.

The FDA recommends purchasers to cease giving their dogs food from the two lots and dispose of it in a safe container out of the access of other animals. Customers should also clean the freezers and refrigerators where they kept the merchandise. All areas and tools used to feed the animals should be cleaned. They should also clean any toys and other items that the pets came in contact with.
